Legras since the start at Envoyer, and their Champagnes remain among the most compelling buys in the category with stable, sensible pricing. As a follow-up to Saint Vincent, we’re thrilled to offer the just-released 2014 Présidence Vieilles Vignes, a client favorite we’ve been awaiting for years; Legras rarely issues new releases, and this is one of only two in a long while. Sourced from old-vine Chardonnay in Chouilly Grand Cru, the wine is a pure Blanc de Blancs: primary fermentations in stainless steel, full malolactic for balance, an extended rest on the lees, and a restrained 5 gram dosage to keep precision front and center. The classic, cool 2014 season shows in the glass as lemon oil, white peach, chalk, and toasted almond, carried by a fine, persistent bead and a long, saline finish. It is a complete, grand-cru expression with real mid-palate drive and the structure to improve for a decade-plus, built on the Côte des Blancs’ standout Chardonnay of 2014, and shows exactly why Présidence is such a loved cuvée.
