2015 Paul Bara Champagne Grand Cru Comtesse Marie de France

We have the 2015 release of the Marie de Comtesse from Paul Bara today, and it's another spectacular example of this very consistent Tete de Cuvee. Paul Bara is one of the best producers in the village of Bouzy, a commune of Champagne known for its incredible Pinot Noir, and the Comtesse Marie de France is one of the greatest wines made here and a crown jewel of the Bara lineup. Paul Bara only makes a limited amount of this Champagne in the best vintages, and seeing that it was a sensational vintage, it has the potential to be one of the greatest yet.
The Comtesse is the ultimate expression of this house, highlighting the freshness and intensity of the style here, sourced from the best of Paul Bara's 9.5 hectares of Grand Cru Pinot Noir. It is a deep and complex wine with beautiful notes that weave through pure, candied fruit, a leesy nuttiness, and an excellent mineral backbone. Though it can be generous, it has an incredible balance, with excellent acidity, creating a beautiful interplay of richness and energy. We have fantastic pricing on this Champagne today, and it is an excellent buy for Grand Cru Champagne!
Antonio Galloni 93 pts! The 2015 Brut Comtesse Marie de France is a terrific effort, especially for the year. Lemon confit, marzipan, white flowers and baked apple tart all show the complexity of a wine that spent nine years on its lees. Soft, resonant contours give the 2015 tons of allure. This mid-weight Champagne is a total delight. Dosage is 3 grams per liter. Disgorged: March 2025. (Drink between 2025 - 2032)
